The Gameplay
- Set all numbers/blocks up.
- Roll 2 dice.
- Use the sum of the dice to close one or more numbers.
Example: If you roll a total of 8, you can close either 8 or 5+3 or 4+4 etc. - After each roll, switch turns.
- Can’t make a move? Then add up your open numbers: that’s your score.
- After 4 rounds, add up all the points. The player with the fewest points wins DICEN!
The Basic Rules
- If only the numbers 6 or lower are still open, you may choose to roll with just 1 die. This can be an advantage or disadvantage.
- Do you flip ALL tiles in your turn? Then you shout “DICEN” and all opponents get +10 points added to their round score.
- If you roll 2 of the same numbers (e.g. 2 + 2 = 4), then you may flip that score back up. This is only possible if you have already flipped the 4 down, in this case. This can be an advantage to stay in the game.
- If you roll a 6 + 6 (6+6 = 12) then you may decide which tiles to flip back up if you can no longer continue. This only applies if you would no longer be able to continue.
- For ALL regular rolls, if you can flip something down, then you must flip it down.
- For rolls where you roll doubles, you may only flip a tile back up if you would no longer be able to continue in that turn.
Different Game Variations
Basic Games
-
Lucky
ALWAYS roll with two dice. For example, if you roll a 2 and a 4, you can add up the pips on both dice and flip over this total. Or you can flip over the 2 and the 4. If you’ve already flipped one of these numbers, choose one of the two. If you’ve already flipped everything, unfortunately you can’t do anything more.
-
Even
Only the even numbers participate.
-
Odds
Only the odd numbers participate.
-
Easy Peasy
Numbers 8, 9, and 10 are not included.
-
3 Extreme
The numbers 1, 2, and 3 are not included.
-
Unlucky Number 7
The 7 doesn’t participate in this game, skip this block. If you roll a 7, your turn is immediately over.
-
7 TO GO
You need to roll a 7 on your first turn to start the game. If you don’t roll it, your turn is over.
Solo Variant
-
GO GO
Try to knock down all the blocks with as few throws as possible
TIP: Keep track of your score using the other blocks on the board.
-
Time Attack
Make sure you flip all the blocks as quickly as possible and keep track of your time using a timer. Record your times and improve yourself.
2 Player Games
-
Lord of the Board
Each player plays with 2 boards, which means you have many more options for flipping tiles. Play with the basic rules or vary with other rules.
Also, combine the numbers. For example, you roll a total of 10. Then you can flip tiles from both boards. For example, a 6 from one board and a 4 from the other.
4 Player Games
-
2 VS 2
Play 2 against 2. The same rules apply as normal, but now you work together. Play with the player opposite you. You can flip each other’s throws on your boards. For example, if you roll a total of 5, but you no longer have a possibility for it, you can flip the 5 on your teammate’s board. If neither of you can make a move, you record the score.
